Questions

Does this model have aimable tweeters? The in-wall mount location is above my screen, which puts it well above the listener's head. If this does not allow aiming tweeters, what model(s) do?

Asked by: EhrenZoner
Hello, This 255c-LS does feature an aimable tweeter, this is done by pushing on the outer ring of the tweeter to swivel it, it can move up to 15 degrees. The V60 Slim (https://www.polkaudio.com/en-us/product/built-in-speakers/in-ceiling/v60-slim/113394.html) does have a swivel mount tweeter as well that can be aimed towards the listening position. Both would be ideal for the situation you are encountering. What cubic feet of volume is needed if these were to be put into an enclosure?

Asked by: Rich P
Hello, our in-wall/in-ceiling speakers are designed to operate free air or infinite baffle. If back box enclosures must be used; the recommended sealed enclosure volume is 1.2 cubic feet. This does include driver displacement. Installing 1/2 to 3/4 of a pound of Dacron is also recommended to dampen the enclosure. We recommend using 1/2 inch MDF for the building material.

My mounting options are limited due to a brick facia and low profile requirement. The dimensions of this unit fit the bill. Is it possible to build these into a sealed enclosure? If so, what is the recommended air space for this speaker?

Asked by: R Crooks
Hello, Usually these speakers work best with open air behind them but in the case that you want to build a sealed enclosure, we can recommend that you leave about 2-3 inches of space around the speaker. There is also a switch on the speaker itself for EQ that you may try to test the options to see what sounds best within the enclosure.

I purchased the Polk Legend L600 Floor Speakers.  Do you recommend pairing these speakers with in-wall center channel or rear surround speakers? If so, which speakers model?

Asked by: Polk legend fan
To best match the excellent L600 speakers using an in-the-wall center channel speaker, the 255C-LS is the best choice. My first choice for in-the-wall surround speakers is the 265-LS speakers. If free-standing speakers are possible, I recommend the L400 center channel and the L100 Bookshelf speakers as surround speakers.
