Polk Brings Atrium To CI Specialists Catering to Residential and Commercial Markets
Great Sound, Versatile Installation And Advanced Enclosures Offer Integrators Exceptional New Options For Outdoor And Marine Projects
ATLANTA, GA, September 20, 2010 - Polk Audio®, the Speaker Specialists®, will soon add a new indoor/outdoor model to its celebrated Atrium® lineup of outdoor speakers; one that is designed specifically for residential and commercial custom installation specialists who need to add great sound to any environmentally challenging application, with a versatile transformer that allows five different tap settings for distributed line sound systems.
"Listener expectations don’t change in an outdoor environment, " says Polk Product Line Manager Al Baron. "Our Atrium outdoor series has proven itself in countless residential deployments, and the new 5c can bring the same legendary sound and build quality to any light commercial or institutional application, indoors or out."
The Polk Atrium 5c is a compact, 2-way speaker featuring a 5-inch woofer with a mineral polymer cone, set below a 3/4-inch anodized aluminum tweeter. Both drivers feature rubber surrounds for long-lasting durability, while mineral filled composite polypropylene enclosures and powder coated aluminum grilles both resist rusting. In fact, the Atrium 5c more than exceeds military specifications for environmental stability, with no effect on acoustical performance or structural integrity when exposed to salt spray, extreme temperatures (-19°C to 49°C), high humidity (up to 95%) and ultra-violet light. The system also has a splash proof rating of IP-X4 (IEC 529), making it adept for marine and waterside environments.
The Atrium 5C can be used in either 70V or 100V distributed line sound systems, and has five tap settings. Normal pass-through operation serves for standard 8 Ohm operation, while 7.5W, 15W, 30W and 60Wsettings are also selectable. This versatility lets the Atrium 5c play beautifully and reliably in restaurants, fitness clubs, outdoor themed venues, or any open-air application where foreground/background music and paging are needed.
To further extend the speaker’s versatility, the Atrium 5c comes with Polk’s exclusive Speed-Lock™ Mounting System, for easy, safe one-handed installations even in difficult locations. The simple mounting procedure means fewer parts to juggle; simply install the bracket, click the speaker into place and tighten the knobs.
The Polk Atrium 5c comes in paintable white and black, and will be available in October 2010.
