6.5" Turbine Cone

Polk developed the Turbine cone specifically for the Legend series to ensure the natural reproduction of the mid-range, the frequencies our ears are so sensitive to. The Turbine cone combines Polk’s proprietary foam core and the molded Turbine geometry which dramatically increases stiffness and damping, without adding mass, resulting in a smooth, detailed mid-range and effortless bass – hear every detail.

Comes with a grille to cover the front baffle and a second grille for the top to cover the optional height module when installed. Computer modeled for a precision fit and to minimize sonic interference. The acoustically inert magnetic grilles offer a clean aesthetic without sacrificing sound.

Polk believes cabinets should be beautiful but add nothing to the playback. Polk Legend cabinets, braces, and internal enclosures are carefully engineered to minimize unwanted internal standing waves and eliminate unwanted resonances. The result is a cabinet that rigidly holds the transducers while faithfully reproducing recordings.

Perfect for easy setup, they ensure the most direct, efficient, and loss-less connection possible. Dual binding posts support both bi-wire and bi-amping.

I love the L200, I bought 2 pairs, in walnut, and bi-wired one pair as a computer listening system with onkyo older amp, and EQ. The fit, finish, and quality is truly outstanding. I got them on sale, and I am grateful for that too. Let me just say that Polk Audio has done an outstanding on the L200s, and L800s (I have those too), and they bring so much joy in my life. I am grateful to own them.

Questions

On the L200 & L400, it comes with four binding posts with both sides wired together. I am not bi-amping or anything. Which set of posts should I use upper or lower and can I remove the connecting wires?

Great question: the wires (Jumpers) are in place as an option. The Jumpers need to stay in place when using non-Bi-Wire or Bi-Amping connections. It must be removed when using Bi-Wire or Bi-Amping connections. If connecting the speakers with a standard speaker wire connection, leave jumpers in place and use either the top or bottom terminals.

I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-33 Receiver. It defaults to 8 ohm impedance but it can be set to 6 ohm. Would the 6 ohm impedance be preferable? The amp is 110 watts per channel. Compare 38 Hz → 50,000 Hz. rated to 69 Hz-23 kHz in Paradym Founder 40B, 92dB

Hello, Some people will say it should be set to 8 ohms. Others will say 6 ohms. the truth is, it works either way. There is no right or wrong. The reason it works either way is because the impedance is constantly changing with the source content. The thing to do is switch between the two settings, holding onto about a week's listening with either setting. From there you just have to pick the setting your ears prefer. If you cannot hear a difference, it won't matter which setting it is on.

How well will a Denon AVR-X1700H receiver work with these speakers? It has maximum power output of 80 watts per channel.

Hello, the Denon AVR-X1700H is compatible with the Polk Audio L200 speakers as the speakers are compatible with 4,6, or 8-ohm amplifiers. The Denon 1700 is compatible with 4,6,8, or 16-ohm speakers. The L200 speakers will only dip to 4 ohms in short bursts when demand is high. Regarding watts, depending on room size and listening levels, speakers rarely need more than 30 watts per channel.

When placing the speaker on the bookshelf, what is the recommended distance from the back wall and from the sidewall to optimize the sound of the speaker?

Hello, How a speaker responds to placement is going to vary from room to room. On the whole, speakers are not happy near side walls. With backwall placement, the trick is to keep pulling the L200s (or any speaker) away from the back wall until you get a good balance of bass depth and detail. Bass isn't quite as tight when right up against the back wall. It can cause the bass to sound a bit muddy or bloated. Trusting what your ears tell you is key.
