Rated 5 out of 5 by from Audiophile's Musings I have owned 30-50k speakers (Magico & TAD) and have tried many different brands of in ceiling speakers (Yamaha, JBL, GoldenEar, ADS, etc.). These compete with the best -- e.g., GoldenEar and A/D/S 7"-8" speakers. These are full range. These are coherent. They are dynamic and balanced top to bottom. And they look wonderful (flush). I have bought multiple pairs. I think the only other speakers I think may edge them out are GoldenEar but those are more expensive and are not as full range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best I have heard! I put two of the ceiling of my recent renovation. I am driving them with NAD D 3020 (30w) using a variety of sources. I love the absolute clarity and range from these beautiful speakers at all volume levels. The bass is palpable at a level unexpected from their ceiling location. The midrange and tweeters perfectly balanced for my ears. Even at only 30w, these can get way louder than is comfortable for most people. The NAD amp is a perfect companion to these, crystal clear sound, even at maximum! My only concern is when it comes to sell my house, will something like this exist? If not, they are coming with me and I will drop in some cheap replacements.

Questions

I'm looking to get a pair of the 900-LS in order to set them up as part of my ATMOS setup. I don't see anywhere that these have a swivel mount. Would you clarify if the 900-LS can be adjusted once mounted towards the listening position ?

Hello, the tweeter on the 900-LS is fixed. However, the 900-LS does provide an excellent wide dispersion of sound and can be used for all channels.

What is Polk’s top of the line in ceiling speaker? Also, which speaker is better: 80f/x-LS or 900-LS?  What is the best in-ceiling rear speaker to pair with the legend series front speakers?

Each speaker has its own strengths. Both the 80 F/X-LS and the 900-LS represent our top-of-the-line in-ceiling speaker offerings. The 80F/X-LS employs two 3/4" Dynamic Balance ring radiator tweeters for detailed highs and superb imaging. The tweeters are angled so that they are firing away from each other for a more diffuse sound field. The FX models are sold in pairs; A Left and Right speaker is provided in the box. The 900-LS are sold as each and present a more directional image. The 900-LS are better suited for all channels, including the Front and Atmos channels, whereas the 80F/X-LS are best used as surround sound speakers.

I have LSiM707 front & rear, 702F/X surrounds, 706c Center and a REL sub.  Would these 900LS speakers make good height speakers for moving to an ATMOS system?

Great question: I can't think of a better in-ceiling speaker to help complement your already excellent speaker system. The Polk Audio 900-LS In-Ceiling speakers should blend wonderfully as Height (Atmos) speakers.
