Polk developed the Turbine cone specifically for the Legend series to ensure the natural reproduction of the mid-range, the frequencies our ears are so sensitive to. The Turbine cone combines Polk’s proprietary foam core and the molded Turbine geometry which dramatically increases stiffness and damping, without adding mass, resulting in a smooth, detailed mid-range and effortless bass – hear every detail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 3 way center speaker  As a 30 yr Polk fan I've collecting each series. I have 59 Polk speakers now including 6 Atium 8s 2 10in subs that's run by my Denon x150h. My bedrm has the x6400h receiver with 4 monitor 70 II and Csi6 2 505 subs. The other bedrm has the Heos 5.1 with S30 and 4 S20s and my livingrm runs the x8500h and complete set of Rti series 9s,7s,3s,Fxi6s, 2 Hts 12s and now the L400 which replaced the 706c. I thought the 706c was a fantastic speaker this L400 is much better. It's a large speaker about 40lbs with nice wood grain and dual ports. After all the other 2 way center speaker then go to 3 way as the 706c is I won't go back. The L400 is the best 3 way I've heard. I do suggest u give it time to beak in when I 1st got it the mid was a little tinny but after letting it run a few days now it's already clearing up so I know with more it will sound great. As u can tell I'm a complete SOUND UNITED HOME. I will highly recommend the Legand 400 over the other due to being 3 way and the wood grain the way it built. Thank u Polk for building so many complete sets of speakers for any budget from beginner to audio file listener from inside to outside speakers. Now I'm saving up for the other speakers in the Legand series to match the L400.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected I was using a kef q350 with my polk r700s and r250 surrounds, but this thing blows that out of the water. I am very impressed by the quality and the uniformity of distribution. Should have bought this from the start!

Questions

I have Magico S1 speakers, will the L400 match my system?

The L400 will work with the Magico S1 speakers but there may be a timbre mismatch. We do not have much information on the sound of the Magico S1 speakers to be able to provide information on how the voicing will sound together.

My mains are Polk RT20P with CS350-LS center. If I replace my center channel with the Legend L400, will it blend well? Thanks.

Hello, While the L400 isn't a replica of the RT20P or CS350-LS with it's design, all these speaker will compliment each other as they are all tuned to sound like a Polk Audio loudspeaker.

How do the L400 and R400 compare. I realized one is 2 way and the other is a 3 way. What are the advantages vs disadvantages of the different designs?

Both the R400 and L400 center channel speakers are right at home in even the most demanding of home theaters. The L400 is capable of a more sophisticated playback, reproducing a better midrange being a 3-way design. Room size may also assist in the final decision. For Large rooms, I recommend the L400 as it can play with a bit more authority.

The Legend L400 is listed as 9 5/8 inches tall but, it has a slope on the top. Can anyone tell me the height at both low end and high end?
