The pinnacle of sonic performance

Pinnacle ring radiator tweeter

40 plus years of tweeter innovation, design and prototyping has led to the development of the new 1” high definition Pinnacle ring radiator tweeter. Developed for the Legend Series, it delivers ultra-clear, crisp highs without unwanted coloration or distortions. The Pinnacle tweeter features a finely tuned waveguide that dramatically improves the dispersion of high frequency energy ensuring a broad “sweet spot” while the critically damped rear-chamber helps to defeat any unwanted resonances.

Better bass by design

Traditional bass ports make noise (chuff) and mask the low frequency bass notes you want to hear. The new enhanced Power Port® design smoothly transitions air flow from the speaker into your listening area for louder, cleaner bass while minimizing turbulence, distortion, and port noise.

5.25" turbine cone

Polk developed the Turbine cone specifically for the Legend series to ensure the natural reproduction of the mid-range, the frequencies our ears are so sensitive to. The Turbine cone combines Polk’s proprietary foam core and the molded Turbine geometry which dramatically increases stiffness and damping, without adding mass, resulting in a smooth, detailed mid-range and effortless bass – hear every detail.

3d audio compatibility optional height module

For the ultimate listening experience, the L800 can be used for the front stage of any home theater or as side and rear surrounds. Elevate your sound of your home theater set up with our optional Legend L900 height module (sold separately). This works with today’s new home theater technologies including: Dolby Atmos, DTS, DTS:X, DTS:X Virtual, IMAX Enhanced and Auro-3D.

Comes with a grille to cover the front baffle and a second grille for the top to cover the optional height module when installed. Computer modeled for a precision fit and to minimize sonic interference. The acoustically inert magnetic grilles offer a clean aesthetic without sacrificing sound.

Customized for improved stability and bass coupling to the floor, the speaker tower feet are designed for carpet but also come with a rubber boot for hard floors. The feet are also adjustable so you can level or angle the speaker to your preferences.

L600's Dual binding posts support both bi-wire and bi-amping for the most direct, efficient, and loss-less connection possible. Plus conveniently-placed connectors for the L900 Height Module provide easy cabling and a clean presentation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Outstanding I bought these speakers as an upgrade to my Lsi 15's. I recommend using a subwoofer with these and moving the lower frequencies to the sub. After this, the difference between the Lsi's and the L600's becomes night and day. The L600's have fantastic bass. Tight, detailed and controlled. The highs are clear and detailed. Female vocals literally bring tears to my eyes upon occasion. With the right setup, you can hear the vocalist's breath, picks sweeping over guitar strings, drum sticks hitting cymbals, the slap of a hand on bongos. I could go on but you get the idea. I was going to buy the R700's on sale but when I went to purchase them they were sold out so I ended up going with these. I have ZERO regrets, and would put these up against speakers considered "audiophile" that cost twice their price. I recommend these speakers easily. Well done Polk!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Impressed First off- never thought I’d own a pair of Polks. Always thought of them as low to mid-fi speakers, and never paid much attention. That was a misstep. Bought a pair of L600’s and hooked them up to an Integra pre/pro and Anthem PVA 7. My first thought was, “Did I make a mistake?”. Very dull and uninvolving. I the tried them on a Musical Fidelity M8 500w amp. Night and day. I cannot express what a difference the amp made. I’ve owned many speakers in my life (and heard lots more). I won’t say these are end-game, but the combo with this amp sounds incredible. Very dynamic, detailed and great bass. Highly recommended.

Questions

I have L800 with atmos 900 in the front with a center channel and sub. I currently have some smaller rear channel speakers in the back for surround. I want to replace my rear surround speakers with L600 and 900 atmos. Would this be a big difference?

Not having the full details of your current speakers, it is hard to provide a definitive answer. However, I can say that the L600 and L900 speakers will make for a fantastic rear/height surround sound experience.

I would like to purchase a pair of R600 and place them at 6" from the back wall and approx. 10' from each other and 10' from the listening point. Would that work?

Hello, This sounds like a good setup. You can take some time and adjust the positioning to see what sounds better but this is a great starting point.

I have both the RTiA9 and the LSiM707. After using both in my set up for years at a time, the A9 outperforms the LSiM707 for 2ch listening. That being said, what could I expect from the L600 regarding detail and depth?

First, thank you for being a Polk Audio fan. Both the RTiA9 and LSiM707 are excellent speakers with their own strengths. The new L600 speakers have improvements over both RTiA9 and LSi707 speakers. They present a wonderful image with both detail and depth. The Pinnacle Ring Radiator Tweeter, Turbine Mid-Range Driver, and Power Port have been redesigned, offering a natural but powerful reproduction of sound. How do these compare to the R700 in terms of imaging and soundstage?

Hello, Both offer the ability to impress when it comes to imaging and sound stage, but you can expect to hear a wider presentation with soundstaging from the L Series. Overall, the L Series will sound more refined - not least because of the Power Port technology being utilized, and the extra detail in the lower frequencies it produces.

What are the dimensions of the legend L600 cabinets without the bases?

Hi Camel, It is recommended not to remove the base from the speaker as it is a functional coponent. Doing so will prevent the power port from operating well, and may result in added noise and rattling. The width and depth of the cabinet without the base is 9" x 16.8" 45.51" is the overall height without the base.

How do the L600 sound compared to the RTI-A9 from Polk ? I am currently using them. How loud can the L600 play ? I can push the RTIa9 to about 115 db still clear.

Hello, We are reluctant to recommend listening at levels exceeding 96 dB owing to the potential damage which can be done to our hearing beyond that level. That being said, the L600 are quite different in their design and have a sound which is proving to be very popular among those who have taken some time to get to know them. They are capable of playing very loudly.

I think they sound great wright out of the box. But around 20 hours they will really start singing. And about around 100 hours you are in audio bliss.
