The Polk Reserve R900 height module is Dolby Atmos compatible and designed to meet DTS:X specification. With the ability to wall mount or place on top of a compatible Reserve speaker, this height module allows convenient flexibility. Flip the switch on the back of the speaker to select the desired position and the speaker will automatically adapt to the optimal performance.

Can the Polk R900 speakers be mounted on the all horizontally vice vertically?

Hello, The built in keyhole hanger will not allow the speaker to mount horizontally and mounting it as such may affect how sound is perceived as they are designed to be mounted vertically.

Can the Reserve R900 can be actually mounted on the ceiling? i.e. Left & right top middle overhead speakers position in 9.1.2 Overhead Dolby Speakers setup

Hello, the R900 Height Module speakers are designed to be wall-mounted or Speaker-Mounted. They work very well on top of the R700, R600, R500, or R200 speakers. They were not intended to be mounted on the ceiling. Please consider the 700-LS In-Ceiling speakers as an alternative. https://www.polkaudio.com/en-us/product/built-in-speakers/in-ceiling/700-ls/112766.html If in-ceiling placement is not an option, consider mounting the R900 speakers high up on the side walls as top middle Atmos speakers.

Yes, the Polk Audio R900 Height Module can be used with the Signature Elite series. Please note that the R900 is 12.6" in depth and will hang off the back of the ES50 speaker. Wall mounting the R900 may be a good second option.

Can these be mounted overhead on the ceiling? I have a slightly vaulted ceiling that slopes down to the left and right of me,. Which means I can't really do in ceiling speakers like the 900-LS (not enough depth in the ceiling).

How would these match sound-wise as rear height modules for Legend 200 surrounds? Also, is the "brown" finish the same as the "walnut" used in the Legend line?

The Brown finish of the Legend Series differs from the Walnut finish of the Reserve series. It is not night and day difference, and I encourage you to view images of the two finishes online. Regarding the overall voicing, the Reserve and Legend series are similar.
