Polk's PSW505 boasts a very sturdily built, slot-loaded enclosure — by reducing port turbulence and distortion, the Slot Load Vent sends out bass that fills your room and still retains detail and shape. Inside this enclosure, Polk's hidden a brawny 300-watt RMS amplifier, which powers the high-quality 12" long-throw woofer. The woofer's Hi-Roll foam surround gives the cone more flexibility for back-and-forth movement. This beast sends out a lot of sound!.

  • 12" Dynamic Balance® driver
  • 460W of peak power using Class D amplification
  • Bass response down to 23 Hz
  • Slot load venting
  • Klippel-optimized

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The bass is bring my movies to life. It's about 12 years old and it's great. The bass has to be toned down cause it shakes the glass in my kitchen cabinets. Overall a great sub, might be over kill for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME SOUNDING SUBWOOFER I purchased this subwoofer back in 2012. I see a lot of negative reviews about this subwoofer. My experience has been great. My sub is 10 years old and it still sounds great. No problems at all. I love the sound coming from this unit. I replaced a Klipsch subwoofer with this one and it blows it out the water. Can't wait until it comes available again.

Recently, I have started to notice that my sub plays sound for couple of seconds and then it just emits static noise - the kind of noise we hear when there is no signal in TV broadcast. Same result after turning off and on.

Hello, there may be a few things that have happened here. First I would check the cable and swap it to see if perhaps the cable has gone bad. Then I would also check the power cable to see if that is causing a grounding issue though that seems unlikely. In these situations, we would recommend that you contact our customer care team directly for support https://www.polkaudio.com/en-us/contact-us.html 800-377-7655 (Product Support) Mon - Sun: 9AM - 9PM EST

I understand the Hi-level ins and outs parallel the signal to the sub. Curiously, does the low-pass x-over adjust the hi-level spkr leads on the way out, i.e. cutting out everything above, for example, 120Hz, or is that x-over only for the internal sub?

Asked by: Zeus
Hello, the PSW 505 does not provide a High-Level crossover. The speaker out terminals output a full rang signal.

What is the max wattage the speaker level input can handle from my receiver to the sub?

Asked by: Bill9306
The Polk Audio PSW505 is a powered subwoofer and will not draw any power from a connected receiver using the HI Level (Speaker level) or Low-Level (RCA) connection. Using the speaker level in and speaker level out to a set of speakers, the sub will pass the required amount of power through to the connected speakers. It is a parallel speaker-wired pass-through. There is no cap in the series.

I bought a PSW505 about 6 years ago. The amp has failed. This seems to be a common problem with this sub. What is Polk doing to correct the problem and are you doing for your customers?

Good evening, I have a PSW 505 unit that I love, but it failed after several years. Apparently, this failure is common with my electronic card because the 12” speaker works. Please help me solve the problem.  Thanks
