Questions

What's a good avr for two 8 SDI speakers and TV outdoors?

Asked by: SDHa
Hello, We typically recommend Marantz or Denon AVRs to pair with our speakers. You can visit their websites for more information on their products and see which ones have the features you are looking for.

I have a large outdoor patio and will be using 2 Polk Atrium 8s in left and right speaker setup. What is the optimal distance apart for the speakers? Is 20 feet apart too far for use as L and R?

Asked by: Nick S
Hello, The optimal distance for these speakers can vary depending on the environment you are placing them in and thus we cannot provide an exact estimate. 20 feet is fine to place them but that may result in the stereo field being very wide which may or may not sound pleasing to your ear. The best bet is to experiment and place the speakers at different distances to see what sounds best to your ears.

Hi is Yamaha Wxa-50 amplifier sufficient for 4 atrium 8

Asked by: Birla
Considering the WXA-50's specs, it should be a fine match for a single pair of Atrium 8 speakers. Connecting two pairs is not recommended. However, a speaker selector box may make it possible. I do suggest that you contact Yamaha to confirm. Speaker selector boxes are available from a third party and can be found online.

I'm creating a 3.1 outdoor theater area. Thinking of using two Atrium 8s as a center channel to create some oomf in the center, with single Atrium 8s as L and R, plus a buried subwoofer. Thoughts?

Asked by: TexasGuy
Hello, This would work just fine. Just be sure to connect the two Atriums correctly to your amps center channel. For further assistance you can contact our customer care team https://www.polkaudio.com/en-us/contact-us.html 800-377-7655 (Product Support)

If I get 2 of these, and want each one to operate each one as a single loudspeaker, how would I wire it to the Sonos Amp (which is 125W per channel)?

Asked by: Nick S
Each speaker can accept a single channel of input or stereo input from an amp. If you want each speaker to be a single loudspeaker, then you would likely use two Sonos Amps and wire each one independently to the speaker. You can contact Sonos for more information on how their amps work with this configuration.

What is the best gauge speaker wire to run these Atium 8's , my amp has 125w per channel? The runs are under 50 LF but Some articles I read say 14ga, others 16ga is fine

Asked by: DIYDAD28
Hello, Usually 16 Gauge wire is perfect for most home theater setups and low distance runs, but for anything that is over 50 feet from Amp to Speaker, 14 gauge wire may be the better choice for consistent signal transfer.

Can you place the Atrium 8SDI in the open with no protection from the elements?

Asked by: CW1744
Hello, the Polk Audio Atrium 8 SDI speaker is All-Weather Certified and made to withstand the elements. Please note, as with most all speakers, the speakers will sound best where sound has some surfaces to reflect off—installed under eaves or near another wall, for example. Atrium Series speakers exceed baseline industrial and military specifications for environmental endurance (ASTM D5894-UV Salt Fog, Mil Standard 810 Immersion, Mil-Std 883 Method 1009.8 for salt and corrosion).
