Questions

I've installed 2 VT60 ceiling speakers as rear channels in my living room. What would you recommended as front shelf speakers to pair with these? I'll eventually upgrade my sub, center channel and receiver as well. Thanks in advance.

Asked by: J9874
Hello, the VT60 speakers will pair wonderfully with any of our speakers in our lineup. Ultimately, your decision will depend on the room size and design look you hope to achieve. That said, I recommend you consider our Signature Elite ES60 Floorstanding speakers, ES30 center speaker, and two of our HTS 10 subwoofers. The Denon AVR-S970H will be a great addition to the system. I hope this helps. Do you have Prebuild/rough-in black for the VT60?

Asked by: Sam E
Hello, we do not offer prebuilt back boxes. If wanting to create your own, the recommended sealed enclosure volume is 1.2 cubic feet. This does include driver displacement. Installing 1/2 to 3/4's of a pound of Dacron is recommended to dampen the enclosure. We also recommend using 1/2-inch MDF for the building material.

I want to put back boxes on these (vt60) What is the recommended volume? (cubic inches) and what proportions? would 3.5 by 14.5 by x = volume suffice or do you recommend other proportions?

Can I use 3 vt60 speakers as 2.1 home theater or do you recommend more.

Asked by: Viki
Hi Viki, If you use 3 x VT60 speakers with a sub-woofer, it will be a 3.1 system. It is a good idea to use more of them if you want an alluring surround system. The more surround speakers you use, the more the surround effects will encapsulate you.

Between Polk VT60 and MC60, I am assuring MC60 is better for whole-house audio. I am wondering if there is a significant difference or will they be about equal. I like the VT60 because of the grill design but don't want to sacrifice quality.

Asked by: RichNC
The VT60 is typically preferred for Home theater use, whereas the MC60 is more commonly used for whole-house use. The grills on the MC60 are of different materials, making them suitable for high-moisture areas like bathrooms. The MC60 also provides a 91dB sensitivity rating, making them a bit easier to drive by a multi-channel amplifier. However, if installing the speakers in dry areas and using a high-powered multi-room amplifier, the VT60 offers better overall sound quality and a cosmetic advantage over the MC60.

Can the VT60 be used outside on the deck as long as it doesn't get wet? Or is it recommended to use one of the outdoor models?

Asked by: RichNC
Hello, our VT60 in-ceiling speakers can be used indoors in moist areas; however not recommended for outdoor use. For outdoors, please consider our outdoor speaker collection. https://www.polkaudio.com/en-us/category/outdoor-speakers. Our RC80i in-ceiling speaker may be an option. Different materials are used for the grill, allowing the RC80i speakers to go under eaves or an enclosed porch. RC80i, https://www.polkaudio.com/en-us/product/in-wall-in-ceiling-speakers/rc80i. Rustproof stainless steel hardware, durable butyl rubber surrounds, and powder-coated aluminum (in-ceiling) & painted steel (in-wall) grilles make RCi Series speakers suitable for high moisture areas like bathrooms, transitional spaces or even under eaves or in the ceiling of an enclosed porch. (RCi series are not suitable for exposed outdoor use.)

How well will the VT60 work for whole-house audio speakers? Will the sound be better or worse than RC60i?

Asked by: RichNC
Both the VT60 and the RC60i will make for excellent whole-house speakers. Cosmetically, the VT60 offers an edge-to-edge grill, whereas the RC60i has an exposed frame. As the VT60 is higher up in our line, its sound quality is more refined, offering more detail.

For height speakers. What would be best? VT60 or MC60? Audio speaking, not the cosmetics. Thanks!

Asked by: BAM BAM
Hello, both the MC60 and VT60 in-ceiling speakers will work as Atmos (Height) speakers. However, the VT60 would be best for Atmos (Height), as it provides a greater overall frequency response.
