Whether mounted on your wall or placed atop a shelf or select Monitor XT Series loudspeakers, Monitor XT90 set up is easy. They're designed to fit perfectly on top of the Monitor XT20, XT60 and XT70, and they also feature built-in keyhole slots for wall mounting.

Works with any dolby atmos or dts:x compatible receiver

The MXT90 will act as a height channel when paired with any 4- and 8-ohm AV receiver that provides a minimum of 7-channels and that supports Dolby Atmos or DTS:X. You can also use the MXT90 with vintage receivers that have DSP and outputs for ambience speakers.

Questions

Could I use your XT90’s with my XT20’s on the B channel of my old Technics receiver?  So I’d have the XT20’s running with the XT90’s…..

Hello, You would have to check with Technics with how the B channel works. Usually it does not act as a zone and rather acts as a A/B setup where you can switch between them. We would recommend contacting Technics and asking them how to approach the setup you are looking for.

Hello, we recommend testing the two locations in your room. Room acoustics play a significant role in placing Height speakers. The XT90 speaker may perform better when placed on the wall in one room and not as well in another.

I don’t have fall ceiling at my home. It is roughly 3 meters height from the table where I’m planning to place xt90. Do you have any suggestion or advise for keeping it in table along with tl1600 satellite speaker

Hi Partha, The secret to getting the best out of your speakers is to experiment with placement. As you move your speakers around among the useable locations, the best placement for them is where they sound most pleasing to your ear.

My receiver's manual states it is 7ch at 140w 6ohm impedance, connect speakers with 6 to 16 ohms impedance. I was looking to get the es55 towers with height speakers but are any of the heights usable with my receiver and is the 6ohm a problem w either?

Yes, the Reserve R900 and XT90 Height speakers are compatible with your receiver. Both are compatible with 4, 6, or 8-ohm amplifiers.

Interested in trying the xt90 in 2 channel stereo along with xt70. Would this be a good idea? Receiver has a and b speaker selection. Planning on running both a/b at same time. Any idea what the total ohms would be? Thanks

Stereo receivers that offer A and B speaker outputs will typically output the same gain to both terminals. This may cause an issue at loud volumes as the XT90 Height Module speakers cannot handle the same amount of power. The XT90 speakers are designed to be used in an Atmos configuration connected to an AV surround receiver that offers tone control (volume)to all channels. This helps balance the system. I recommend more of a bookshelf-style speaker to go with the XT70 Floor standing speakers, like the XT15 or the XT20. Both can handle more power and can keep up with the XT70 speakers.

I'm adding a pair of XT90 Atmos speakers to my existing 5.1 system. Instead of placing them flat on top of the tower speakers, can I STAND them up on the cabinet but much closer to the ceiling? Seating position 9 feet away.

The Polk Audio XT90 speakers are designed to be placed on top of existing speakers, on a shelf, or mounted to a wall. Setting the speakers, as you have suggested, will be similar to mounting them on a wall and should provide similar results. Be sure the speakers are secure. I also recommend a bit of experimentation, as results may vary.
