Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thoughts on XT20 pair… Replaced a pair of t15’s with the xt20. Didn’t realize how much more I was getting with these, but the addition of these rounded out the sound quality I was missing with the t15’s as front left and right surround.

Questions

Hello! Just ordered new Denon AVC-X3800H, and will use XT20,15,35,90 as home theater. Do I need to switch AVR to 4ohms or just leave all to default? Thank you.

Asked by: byteblockzv
Hello, These speakers can accept both 4 and 8om impedance and with Denon AVRs you can safely leave them at default and it will work just fine.

Which Polk Audio subwoofer would best pair with the Monitor XT20 speakers?

Asked by: Johnny S
Hello, You can look at the Monitor XT 10 or 12 as a subwoofer to pair with the XT20s, both will be good options and mesh well within your system to provide better low end response.

Hi, will the XT20 work fine with an old Proton 520 amplifier? Also, will their performance be compromised by putting them on a bookshelf very close to a wall, with like 10 cms between the speaker and the rear wall? Thanks!

Asked by: Andreus
Hello, That amplifier may not deliver enough power to the speakers for them to work effectively. We would recommend pushing more power so they can be utilized more, we typically recommend Denon or Marantz amps as they pair nicely with our speakers. As for the positioning and spacing, in general you would want the speakers to be in a space that has more open air around it, it could be placed on a bookshelf and work fine but it may cause some muddying of certain frequencies and giving it more space would allow it to sound cleaner. Are this 4 or 8 ohms? It can't be both right? My receiver is a Sony and I can choose between 6 and 8 ohms What do I do?

Asked by: Giovanni
Hello, the Polk Audio XT20 draws 8ohm on average. With most speakers, the ohm resistance will fluctuate during playback depending on the content and volume level. I suggest setting your receiver to 8ohm.

What cables do I use for these and do you guys carry them, and are the powered speakers? I want to hook this up with my turntables and mixer

Asked by: Lilman714
Hello, these speakers are passive and not powered. They require an amp or receiver to be powered. They use bare speaker wire or banana plugs to be connected and powered. You can hook this up to a turntable that is connected to an amp or receiver. A mixer likely does not power the speakers enough to run these unless the mixer has a built in amp.

Yamaha RX-390 with Quasar SW372 & Quasar SBW100 and it pumps it out, if I go past -34db the neighbor pounds on the wall, I ignore him, just bought the XT15 for the llving room and it doesn't do the trick, will the XT20 keep up & make me smile?

Asked by: tainbey
The XT20 is a great speaker but considering what other speakers you are pairing them with, you may find some floor standing speakers to be the better option if you space allows for it. The XT60 or XT70 would go great with that subwoofer and help shake up your space a bit.

Can xt20 be wall mounted?

Asked by: Jrpeters40
Hello, the XT20 cannot be wall-mounted. However, a sturdy wall shelf can be used to set the speaker on. Be sure that the shelf is rated to hold at least 15 lbs or more.
