Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thoughts on XT20 pair… Replaced a pair of t15’s with the xt20. Didn’t realize how much more I was getting with these, but the addition of these rounded out the sound quality I was missing with the t15’s as front left and right surround.

What impedence is a polk audio monitor XT-20? My stereo requires 8 ohms. The owners manual lists them at 4 ohms. your website claims they can do both. How?

Asked by: jorlandi
Hello, The XT20 speakers can work with amplifiers rated at 4 ohms or 8 ohms. Impedance is variable depending on source content - which is why impedance ratings are typically an average reading.

Hello, thanks. That means if the receiver (ONKYO HT-R 390) has impedance between 6-16 ohm and these speaker 4 ohm (Polk Monitor XT20), there will be no impedance problem between the speakers an receiver?

Asked by: TibRancs
According to specifications, your Onkyo HT-R390 may not be equipped to bring out the very best in the Monitor XT20 speakers all the time, but it will allow them to deliver if the room isn't large (these speakers are designed for smaller rooms) and you aren't trying to harm your ear drums.
