Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very clear sound using as rear surrounds I replaced my outdated Sony satellite surrounds with theses. Big improvement. Very crisp and clean surrounds. Tweeter is a little loud when standing directly in front of them but the woofer balances that out at a distance. The sound carriers very nicely to my listining position. I'm told they have decent bass but using them as surrounds I haven't fully tested that out. But I would definitely recommend theses as quality surround speakers.

Questions

I am looking to start upgrading my surround system. I have an old scht05 600 watts with original speakers. I would like to start by replacing my front speakers. Will the XT15 pair well with the receiver and other speakers

Hello, There will be a difference between those speakers and the XT15s, I cannot say if it will work with that receiver well since it looks to be a Home Theater in a Box system and at times those are proprietary with the speakers they are bundled with. It may be best to contact the manufacturer for that system and ask if you can use other speakers with it. I only saw that there were RCA outputs rather than speaker wire outputs which is what the XT15s will use. If you are looking to perhaps swap the receiver for something that would work best with the XT15s, I would recommend that you look at Denon or Marantz receivers as those will pair great with our speakers.

Looking for some external speakers for my Samsung smart tv. Will the xr 15 pair up with it

Hello, The XT15s are passive speakers and require an external amp or receiver to power them. If you have an amp or receiver connected to your TV then you can use these speakers to provide sound. Will the new XT15 speakers pair well with some T15 speakers for the rear channels? Does a better RMS rating to Peak Power ratio really always translate to a better sound?

Hello, These speakers will pair well despite the slight timbre differences. Wattage does not translate to sound quality, what you want to find is an amp or receiver that delivers the cleanest signal to the speakers as well as having well build cables that can transfer the signal correctly. Wattage mainly can tell us how loud a speaker can get as well as if it can power the speaker appropriately. An amp built with clean circuitry and a smaller signal path will have a better signal than something that has a long signal path with circuitry that is not as efficient. We would recommend that you take a look at Denon, Marantz or Classe amps and receivers as these pair nicely with our speakers.

I have a 725 watt, 8 ohm, 5.1 Sony surround sound system that's 4K compatible. So it's outputting 145 watts per channel. Will the XT15 sound louder than the XT20 speakers because of the peak power ratings? 150 watts vs 200 watts.

Hello, the XT20 has a watt rating going up to 200 watts and has larger drivers which means it is able to push air more efficiently. With your receiver, it could output more volume. I think your question has the speakers in reverse as the XT20 is slightly larger and more capable than the XT15.

Can the XT15 or ES15 bookshelf speakers be used on their side (horizontally) instead of standing upright (vertically)? I'd like to put new fronts in a cabinet and height clearance is an issue. I only have 8.5 inches of height clearance to work with.

Hello, You can place these bookshelf speakers on their side. While there may be a slight difference in sound, there is nothing harmful about carefully placing them on their side so they can fit into your cabinet.

I'm still a little confused about impedance. The manual says minimum impedance is 4 ohms. But in the specs says compatible with 4 or 8 ohms. My receiver can be set at 6 or 8. Should I set the impedance at 6 or 8?

I suggest leaving the receiver in 8 ohms; however, experimentation is recommended. A speaker's demand/ohm draw will fluctuate during playback. During HI-Volume peaks, a speaker may drop briefly down to 6 or 4 ohms.

Are these speakers Wall mountable?

The XT15 bookshelf speakers are not wall mountable as no mounting keyholes, or mounting screw holes are provided. However, the speakers may be placed on a shelf. Pre-made 3rd party shelves are available online or at your local hardware store. Consider our ES15 bookshelf speaker for mounting capability.
