Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great buy for tv room or most home theatres So much punch for their size. I moved some speakers around so these were replacing our S60s. I am so impressed with the full sound and bass that these speakers offer. After running tests with the: 4K blu ray player, Roku, Amazon firestick and tv streaming, I am still just as impressed with the high quality sound at any volume level or amp setting. Audiophiliacs will be more than impressed.

Questions

Is this a single tower or a pair? How would you pair two of them? World they connect to a tv directly or do I need a system inbetween?

Asked by: Sree
Hello Sree, This is for the cost of a single tower, we would recommend getting a pair for stereo sound. These towers do require an amp or an AVR and cannot connect directly to a TV as they require bare speaker wire or banana plugs to be powered.

I have a Sony AN1000 7.2ch 165Wx7 receiver. I have 2 XT60, 2 XT90’s, XT35 and an XT12. If I wanted to purchase the XT70’s, could I make those my front speakers and the XT60’s my surround back/height speakers?? Is this receiver enough to power all of this?

Asked by: Benc
Hello Benc, The AN1000 is rated at 100 watts per channel into 6 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 0.09% THD, with 2 channels driven. That means about 50 watts is being sent per individual channel but to be noted that is rated at 6ohms which our speakers handle can handle 4-8 ohms. While that is enough to power the speakers, they won't really be getting a good amount of power that will allow them to breathe more and have a higher volume level without distortion. It would be an okay option as long as you do not drive the speakers to loud as distortion is likely to occur and could damage the speakers. We would recommend AVR units from Denon or Marantz such as the AVR-X4800H by Denon or the Cinema 40 by Marantz.

What's the difference between the T50 and the XT 60. I have a vintage set of S10's for my front left and right speakers but they are getting tired. Have Polk Center Channel, Atmos, and Sub. Mostly watch movies. Denon AVR X1700H receiver.

Asked by: George from CT
Hello George, The XT series is considered in a higher tier compared to the T series. This is main due in the technology used in the drivers and crossovers as well as the internal bracing within the XT series being better than the T series. If you are looking to upgrade your system to something that will continue to provide you a great sound experience, then we would likely recommend the XT over the T series.

Why you don t specify the exact specs of the speakers? Just being compatible with 4 and 8 ohm outputs is simply not enough info. How many rms in 8ohm ? What is the nominal impedance that works best?

Asked by: ieronymous
Hello, Because speakers do not produce wattage themselves, the wattage rating for a loudspeaker is typically the manufacturer's recommendation of amplifier wattage recommended for use with the speaker. The XT60 has a sensitivity rating of 86dB. This means it will only demand about 25 watts from an amplifier/receiver to reach volume levels which can harm your ears in regular domestic environment. It is recommended to use 25-200 watt amplification with the XT60s, and to keep the SPL levels below 96dB to avoid damaging your hearing. Impedance constantly fluctuates according to source content. If you have amplification which can support 8 ohms, you are okay. The same can be said for amplification which supports 6 ohms, as well as amplification which supports 4 ohms. The XT60 is an impressively versatile loudspeaker.
