Questions

How would a L400 center speaker work with a pair of R700 floor standing speakers for the L/C/R channels for watching movies?

Asked by: CuriousNewb
Hello, The L400 would compliment the R700s fairly well, the L400 will provide a lot of center channel clarity and give a good boost in dialogue for your system.

Will my current AVR, Onkyo TX-RZ710, be able to push the R700s? 110 WPC with 2 channels driven at 8ohms (6-16ohm compatible). Love the look of these and the specs! Trying to decide between these and KEF Q950.

Asked by: Ty C
Hello, Yes, the R700s will be compatible with this Onkyo receiver. They are designed to accept most systems and yours falls right in the range of the R700's specs.

What is the average ohm rating of the R700?

Asked by: Jbdj
Hello, 3.6 ohms is the minimum impedance. It's rating is an average (overall rating) of 8 ohms. It will work fine if the amplifier is set to 4, 6 or 8 ohms and functions great with any of those resistances.

Almost ready to pull the trigger on these...just want to double check that my Yamaha as801 will be able to drive these nicely to moderate volumes. Thanks! Upgrading from 22 year old Monitor 70s. Hoping it's worthwhile upgrade with my current amp

Asked by: victorthecleaner
I have not had the opportunity to listen to the R700 speakers paired with a Yamaha amplifier. However, given the reputation and wonderful reviews of the A-S801, I am confident that this will make for a fantastic pairing. A quick look at the A-S801 specifications shows that it should have plenty of power to drive the R700 speakers.

I have a Rotel A11 Tribute paired with Triangle Borea BR03. I want to upgrade into a tower, hence I am considering to buy Polk R700. Will the A11 Tribute have enough power to push R700 potential? Can I bi-amp R700 with A11's speaker A and B terminals? Thx

Asked by: Aldo199
Hello, The Rotel A11 Tribute is on the lower end of the R700 power rating but should be enough to power it to a solid listening level. Most speakers will only be usings a few watts of power while playing back at a comfortable level. Bi amping is something you could do if you wish to but ultimately you could get away with bi wiring or using the bridge between binding posts.

Would the denon A1H provide the power requirements you speak of if the speaker is bi amped?

Asked by: Unisandman
Hello, With the A1H, you would not need to bi amp the R700 speakers. Bi wiring will provide appropriate power or even simply running one speaker cable pair to the speaker with the jumpers installed will be appropriate. Of course you can always experiment with your setup if you wish to bi amp them, in which case please be sure to remove the jumpers before doing so, both for Bi amping and Bi wiring. Here is a link to the AVR's manual about bi amping for reference https://manuals.denon.com/AVRA1H/NA/EN/DRDZSYbiqqjfof.php#DRDZMLoywtasqw

Well adding a 2nd stereo amplifier is not an option, in this case these are not a good fit for my needs. I can look for 8-ohm speakers and connect 2 in parallel for a 4-ohm load driven by an amp can handle low impedance.

Asked by: Mr Lee
Hello, Our speakers are not designed to be daisy chained and require independent connection to a single channel on an amp. Attempting to run these speakers in parallel or series will cause harm to the speakers. We would also recommend that you reach out to Emotiva for more information on how attempting these connection methods may damage their amps as well.
