Rated 5 out of 5 by from The hype is real Very capable speakers. Upgraded from the TSx550t. Immediately better low end performance. Very happy with how they fill the room and provide great stereo imaging. Thanks for confirming my bias, Polk. You guys rock. I remain a fanboy.

Questions

Well adding a 2nd stereo amplifier is not an option, in this case these are not a good fit for my needs. I can look for 8-ohm speakers and connect 2 in parallel for a 4-ohm load driven by an amp can handle low impedance.

Asked by: Mr Lee
Hello, Our speakers are not designed to be daisy chained and require independent connection to a single channel on an amp. Attempting to run these speakers in parallel or series will cause harm to the speakers. We would also recommend that you reach out to Emotiva for more information on how attempting these connection methods may damage their amps as well.

Since you stated that your speakers can accept 4, 6 & 8 ohm connections, I want to have 4 speakers for wider stereo coverage, what is the best way to connect them using Emotiva BasX A2 Stereo Amplifier? Your specs say minimum 3.6 ohm, is series ok?

Asked by: Mr Lee
Hello, our speakers are designed to be connected in Parallel. Connecting the speakers in series is not recommended. Each speaker should be connected to its own dedicated amplified channel. The soundstage can be increased with proper setup using two speakers. If you want to connect four R700 speakers, a second 2-channel amplifier will be required.

How the r700 works with vintage audio?? Specifically a SAE 2100L preamp and two SAE 2300 power amps with 150 wrms per channel in 8 ohms each one? Both are capable to manage 4 ohms speakers

Asked by: Anonymous
Hello, If your equipment is running to spec, combining your SAE pre-amo and power amps with the R700s will likely prove to be an impressive pairing.

I just purchased a Denon AVR- S760H will I be able to pair it with the R700?

Asked by: Mack_a
The Polk Audio R700 speakers provide you with flexibility when pairing an amplifier. It is compatible with 8-, 6-, or 4-ohm amplifiers. And at 88dB sensitivity, it is relatively easy to drive. Short answer: yes, the Denon AVR-S760H will pair nicely with the Polk Audio R700 speakers. However, I will add that it will only improve as you upgrade amplification.

Hello Polk👍I've recently purchased the R700, and I'm in the market for a matching streaming "all in one" amp. Will the Cambridge EVO 150 fit the R700s?

Asked by: SoulSlave
Hello, and thank you for your purchase. Regarding amp pairing, we have yet to pair the R700 speakers with the Cambridge EVO 150. However, after a quick glance, it looks like a worthy piece of gear. I do want to provide you with an additional option. The Marantz Model 40n Integrated Amplifier. The Model 40n pairs very well with the R700 speakers and offers similar features to the EVO. https://www.marantz.com/en-us/product/amplifiers/model40n Happy listening.

I have a Polk Audio RT-2000p for my L&R fronts. Will replacing it with the R700 give a significant improvement in sound quality and performance?

Asked by: Dan66
Yes, we believe so. Since their release, as good as the RT-2000p speakers are, there have been significant advancements in Driver, Cabinet, and X-Over design. The new R700 speakers should prove to be worthy replacements.

I am thinking about upgrading my RTI A9's to the R700's. Will I see a improvement in both bass and vocal clarity?

Asked by: Fuelsrock
Hello, It is quite possible you will hear improvements with bass and vocal clarity with the R700s after being used to the RTI A9s. Much of it will depend on your speaker placement, what is powering your speakers, and of course your expectations - we all hear things differently.

I see an answered question, stating that at least 200 watts are needed to power the R700's. Since my fairly new Marantz SR6015 is only rated at 110w per channel, what pre-amp do you suggest? Thank you.

Asked by: Royalway
Hello, the R700 speakers do like a bit of power. With that being said, quality of power is also a factor. The Marantz SR6015 offers up a hefty dose of quality power that will certainly be up to driving the Polk Audio R700 speakers. If more power is desired, the Marantz SR6015 provides a Pre-Output section allowing for the addition of an external amplifier.
