Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great rock n' roll speakers Love the bass, and they'll play loud without sounding harsh even with typically bad rock recordings.

Questions

If I use the R700 in stereo mode for a home theatre (no additional speakers), is there any enhanced experience in terms of Movies sound? Or is it just simple Stereo?

Asked by: R700Fan
Hello, This depends if your receiver or amp applies anything specific to the stereo mode. The speakers will play back what they receive and in stereo, it is likely just a stereo signal that is being pushed to the speakers.

Hello there, could you recommend a few Stereo Receivers that will give me maximum power from these speakers? I'm interested in receivers as opposed to amplifiers as I'd like to have blue-tooth connectivity.

Asked by: R700Fan
Hello, We typically find ourselves pairing our speakers with Marantz and Denon receivers. Even their amps will have HEOS and Bluetooth connectivity, that is an option if you are looking to build a stereo only system. Higher wattage will not result in better sound, only how loud the speakers can be pushed. If you are looking for better sound, find a receiver or amp that has cleaner circuitry. This is where we would recommend a Marantz product which are known for their clean and excellent sound.

In the previous question, I did not have room to say that I tried a Denon DRA800H to drive these speakers R700s before I tried the Onkyo TX 8270. It was worse than the Onkyo. Do I need more power? Can you advise? Thank you much for your consideration..

Asked by: RYOUNG
Hello, I just noticed this question as well. In addition to the previous response, you could also try the pre outs on the Denon DRA-900H https://www.denon.com/en-us/product/av-receivers/dra-900h/300788.html I believe this coupled with room treatment will result in the sound you are seeking.

I just received the R700s. I love them!!! I purchased the Onkyo TX 8270 to run them in stereo. When I get much above 60-65 in volume I start getting a fair amount of distortion. I love full/loud music and this is driving me crazy. Can you advise.

Asked by: RYOUNG
Hello, thank you for purchasing the R700s. First, I would suggest using a Denon with pre out's, allowing you to experiment with external amplification. The AVR-X3800H has preouts available for the front left and right speakers allowing a bit more flexibility in your setup (https://www.denon.com/en-us/product/av-receivers/avr-x3800h/300609-new.html.) After this, take a good look at your room acoustics and setup as this may have a big factor in how sound is heard in the room. If you have a lot of tile and hard surface furniture that may be causing a lot of reflections and room nodes, Area rugs and curtains go a long way in helping reduce those acoustical phenomenon which may be contributing to the sound you are experiencing. Here is a great article in how room acoustics can affect sound https://www.audioholics.com/room-acoustics/listening-room-acoustics

Where can we demo your Reserve and Legend speakers in Montreal, Canada?

Asked by: James8
Hi James B, Unfortunately, we do not have any details as to who has which models on display at any of our dealers, but I do have a link to how a Polk Audio dealer can be found. If you call your locally listed stores, they will be happy to assist: https://www.polkaudio.com/en-us/findaretailer.html
